SUSS Youth and Law Camp

Elijah Chew, ACS (International)

Recently, I was selected to attend the inaugural SUSS Youth and Law Camp. It was a valuable and insightful opportunity that deepened my understanding of the legal field. Through a series of well-structured workshops and discussions, I was introduced to the foundations of Singapore’s legal system and several core legal principles.

I gained exposure to contract law, where I learnt how legally binding agreements are formed and enforced. In criminal law, I explored the structure of the criminal trial process, from investigation to sentencing. Additionally, I was introduced to family law, particularly the frameworks in place to support and protect disadvantaged families in Singapore.

Beyond pure academic learning, the camp allowed me to engage in meaningful discussions with legal professionals and like-minded peers. This experience not only broadened my perspectives but also reaffirmed my interest in the legal industry. I am thankful for the rare opportunity to have been a part of the first batch of the SUSS Youth and Law Camp.
