Why I built EdTech as a student

Elijah Chew, ACS (International)

I’m Elijah Chew. I’m 17, I take the IB at ACS (International) in Singapore, and a lot of my time outside school goes into education products. People ask why I don’t wait until university. This is the short version.

School already hands me the problem. I sit next to students who are capable and still get stuck, not because they are careless, but because the tools around revision and showing your work are clumsy. A worksheet ends. A resume throws away the interesting parts. I wanted to build the things I wished existed while I was still close to the person using them.

Two products, one habit

I co-founded BentoTile so students can put their real work in one place: projects, writing, things they actually made. We showed it at the Singapore AI Youth Festival. That did not finish the product. It made the problem public, which is useful.

Bridging is the other build. It is a free, AI-supported revision platform for Singapore O-Level E-Math, at bridging.lol. Secondary students should be able to practise without buying another stack of assessment books just to get a worked explanation. I am still learning where the AI helps and where it gets in the way. That is the work.

Why do it now

The feedback loop is short. I can watch someone my age try the product and see the exact sentence that confused them. I do not have a large team, and I am not pretending this is a polished company story. This site is a public record of what I am making, under my own name.
